What if you’re Wrong?

My favorite color graces this season of sorrow and joy, a contradiction of the pain that Jesus endured so that we might be cleansed. So that we, sinful humans might have life.  A blood atonement was made and now groups like PETA exist and have a right to fight for what they believe in.  Before Jesus, before the ultimate sacrifice, blood was shed daily and there never was enough to cover the sinful nature of human kind. Can you imagine animal rights in a time before Jesus?

This morning, I had a brief conversation with a special lady who grew up Christian but no longer has faith… nor does her husband who grew up Catholic Christian.  They have minds of mathematicians and scientists and do not see a factual basis for the existence of a superior being, of God.  To them, and all those who share in this other faith set… for it is a faith… it takes faith to believe their isn’t a God, that Jesus didn’t walk this earth and suffer immeasurably for us.  I ask you, my dear friends… “What if you are wrong?”.  You lose nothing when you chose faith in Christ, but you lose EVERYTHING when you chose faith in His nonexistence.

How could I; a mother, look at my child and take that risk?  If I chose to believe for no other reason than the sake of these beautiful miracles bestowed upon me, isn’t that reason enough?

Today begins our Lenten journey… our sacrificial walk to the cross with our Risen Savior.

“What if you are wrong?”.

Tonight, we will dine on nourishing soup and bread.  We will walk across the street to participate in mass as a family and receive ash on our foreheads.  We will journey home together and remove the Alleluia from our mantle.  For this journey to Easter is not one of joy, but rather one of sorrow that He must die to cover us with His cleansing blood.

Join us for 20 {4} 40 Lent Challenge- Thanks Jenny!

Thank you Lord God, for sending your son, Jesus to make us whole.  Help me to be reverent to you in all things. Be with us throughout this season of Lent, where we make such a big deal of giving up excess while you gave up what we can’t even fathom.  Quiet our tongues, open our ears, and our hearts to you.  Teach us to love humanity as you do, to reach out to the lowest among us.  To love life from its very inception.  To learn humility and be humble.  Lord God, make us more Christ like in our journey through this life so that one day, we may be with you in Heaven.  ~In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit~ Amen.
