For me, it often requires a daily reminder that my (difficult) child is a wonderful, perfect gift from God. It’s so very easy to get bogged down in the day to day… in the behavioral outbursts, long running defiance, emotional meltdowns, and all around craziness that I forget all the beautiful, wonderful, amazing aspects of my child.
I know I’m not alone.
So today, I challenge you… fellow Mothers & Fathers to post a love letter to your child (if you have multiple children, chose the highest need one to start with). Make this a weekly habit. As parents, we do LOVE our children… unconditionally, preposterously, unendingly. But there are times we need to remind ourselves of that.
There are no rules. Write about your child. Are they inordinately funny? Wonderfully tidy? Messy as can be? Precocious, brilliant, snuggly… do they see the wonder of every tiny bug in the yard? Do they meander through life as if time didn’t exist, catching all the glorious details we find mundane?
Come back here and link up… so that we all may share in your blessing and be reminded that even when parenting is tough, it’s a beautiful gift and something to be treasured.
