(Dontcha LUUUUURVE the shamrock and Celtic Griffin on the front? Um, yeah… those are going. This photo was taken PRIOR to Hubs spending the better part of three days removing moss from the drive and roof.)
We spent the last weekend officially moving into our new house. The kids are on top of the world. I greeted Hubs after work yesterday with, “Welcome to your new life, we no longer have 5 kids now we have 12”. It seems that all the neighborhood children have migrated to our house.
There are positives and negatives to the new house…
On the positive side is the proximity to the school and being on a dead end street where the kids can ridge bikes and play safely.
Then there are the negatives, like the two foot wide master bath… seriously. I used to have a HUGE bathroom with a giant walk in closet, garden tub and separate shower closet. Now I have a tiny sink/counter, ugly GOLD toilet and a shower whose door hits the toilet when opened. Woohoo.
But, we do now have almost 700 more square feet then we did at our former home. That’s another bonus. Oh, and we have a garage… a double, extra long garage. Yay.
Then there is the kitchen… it’s like walking into a time machine that takes you straight back to 1969.
We’ve been doing lots of paining and upkeep around here… but we have to bench the major stuff (like bathrooms and kitchen) for later… I’m thinking a three year plan is in order.
Since we’ve never had a housewarming party… we are planning an open house/BBQ for late August to celebrate the new digs and our Anniversary at the same time… since we also got married without inviting anyone. 🙂 We now have a great deck for such gatherings. I can’t wait! Maybe we will have several get togethers this summer.
Our Upper/Main Living room AFTER being painted. I still need to get rid of the gold on the fireplace doors and the mauve/pink tiles. The color is MERLOT… cuz who doesn’t like a nice red wine?
View of the entry way/front door from the upper living room. I kind of like the stained glass window, Hubs HATES it… it’s sporting several cracks and other damage so it probably will need to be replaced.
Girls’ Ballet Room… I had such a feeling of peace as I was sitting on the floor, carefully edging in the pink… then about 15 kids started going in and out of the room… some one got hurt… some one yelled at some one else… some one wanted a snack… Peace disturbed.
