A Terrible Tragedy…

There has been a story in the news these last couple of days that I have been following. It is the story of two missing brothers in Independence, Oregon. My Father’s business has a location in that small town. It is only a few minutes from the larger city I grew up in and about an hour from where I live now.

It was reported on at least one news station that the 8 year old brother, Michael Runyon was autistic and didn’t know how to swim and that the older brother, 20 year old Alvin Troub, may not have been a strong swimmer.

The bodies of both boys were discovered this afternoon. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones. We will never know how those boys ended up in the river, but we can’t help but think the younger one may have slipped in and his brother tried to save him. May they rest in peace and may their family gain solace in knowing these boys have gone home.

Oh that poor family. It is so tragic, so sad to lose them both. Hopefully the family can someday stop hurting and know that the boys are now together forever.
